Timber Floors

Our range of engineered real timber floating floors have the benefits of traditional timber flooring without all the hassle.

That's because they are made from a solid piece of real timber hardwood (4mm thick) glued (using moisture resistant adhesive) over marine-grade plywood (either 6mm or 10mm thick) and pre-finished with varnish. This means the product is ready to walk on as soon as it is installed. Unlike traditional timber floor boards which can require up to 2 weeks acclimatisation, our real timber floating floors require at most a day or two. Plus there is no need for sanding and no need for varnishing before being put to initial use, saving you time and avoiding the dust and fumes. Because our timber floating floors are not nailed down like conventional floor boards, any movement in the boards is spread across the entire floor, making gaps less likely to appear.

However just like real timber flooring (and unlike other floating floors), the product can be restored after years of wear-and-tear by sanding back and refurbishing if required.

Features and Benefits

  • Hardly any acclimatisation is required. Typically installation can commence the day after delivery. In extreme weather conditions we suggest 2 days of acclimatisation after the weather has settled
  • Easy to install - suitable for DIY
  • Ready to walk on once installed - no waiting for varnish to dry
  • No sanding required - saves you from the dust
  • Pre-varnished - no fumes and odours
  • Environmentally friendly - using various grades of sustainable timbers
  • Allergy-free - easy to clean and suitable for asthma suffers

Seeing the benefits you can understand why we believe our floating floors are better than traditional structural timber floor boards.

Suitable where structural timber flooring is not permitted

Our floating timber floors are suitable where traditional structural flooring is not permitted or not practical such as:

  • Appartments and Townhouses (which are subject to body corporate regulations)
  • Office and Shop leaseholds
  • Exhibition stands

A range of prestigious timbers

The top layer of the boards (timber walking surface) is meticulously selected to ensure a high-grade finish. A range of timber species is available including Sucupira, Tatajuba, Brazilian Pear, Brazilian Oak and Jatoba. Other species including Cabriuva-Parda, Muiracatiara, and Golden Cherry are available on request.

What is a timber floating floor?

Unlike traditional structural timber floors, timber floating floors are not nailed or otherwise attached to the subfloor system. They are typically laid over the existing solid floor. This means they can be installed over any hard flat surface such as concrete, timber floorboards, plywood and particle board. We suggest the use of underlay to provide acoustic insulation against noise especially in apartment blocks or multiple storey homes.
